On Wednesday 7 May 2025, eight laureates of the Ammodo Science Award for fundamental research received their prize during a festive gathering at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
Leila Akkari, Marvin Tanenbaum, Rik Peels, Jenneke van der Wal, Yoeri van de Burgt, Nathalie Katsonis, Janna Cousijn and Freek van Ede each received an award, designed by Thomas Raat, as well as 350,000 euros to spend on further investigating fundamental research questions. Congratulations!
Curious about their research? Then check out the short videos we made in which these scientists explain their work and the challenges they currently face. You’ll find them on the individual laureate pages on the Ammodo Science website.
After the ceremony, Cappella Amsterdam performed Plainscapes, a composition by Pēteris Vasks.
