Tulkus 1880 to 2018 is Paola Pivi’s ambitious attempt to create a complete overview of portraits of all tulkus, the reincarnations of Buddhist masters recognized by Tibetan Buddhism. In total, Pivi has collected more than 1,100 portraits, ranging in size from small to monumental prints. The portrayed tulkus are a representation of Tibetan Buddhism and the Bon-religion and their portraits are usually seen in schools and monasteries and honoured in people’s homes. Ammodo supports Tulkus 1880 to 2018 in order to contribute to the construction of this unique cultural and historical project and the development of the artist Paola Pivi.
