Dutch Masters from the Hermitage is a major retrospective exhibition at the Hermitage Amsterdam displaying work by the Dutch Masters of the 17th century which form part of the collection of the Hermitage in St Petersburg. Alongside work by Rembrandt, pieces by other Dutch masters from the Golden Age will be exhibited including Abraham Bloemaert, Frans Hals, Jacob van Ruisdael, Jan Steen and Joachim Wtewael. Many of these works have not been seen outside St. Petersburg before: this exhibition allows them to be seen in their country of origin for the first time. Ammodo is supporting Dutch Masters from the Hermitage so that this special retrospective can be achieved in the Netherlands.

To commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Hieronymus Bosch in 2016, the Bosch 500 Foundation is organising an exhibitions entitled Hieronymus Bosch – Visions of a Genius in the Noordbrabants Museum. The exhibition aims to provide a complete overview of the works attributed to Hieronymus Bosch. It will bring together for the first time drawings, paintings, panels and triptychs on loan from international museums and private collections. The exhibition is accompanied by a scientific research project, the Bosch Research and Conservation Project, which amongst other things will include the restoration of certain works by Bosch. The exhibition Your light is my life provides an overview of the works from the oeuvre of the Czech artist Kristof Kintera (1973). Kintera makes mechanical sculptures and installations which typically have a humorous and political motif. Kintera developed a box-in-box architecture especially for Kunsthal Rotterdam in which he displays many of his sculptures and installations together in one large gallery space. Ammodo supports Your light is my life as a means of contributing to the visibility and development of Kristof Kintera.

The exhibition A year at the Stedelijk: Tino Sehgal is the first major retrospective of British/German artist Tino Sehgal (1976 ) at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. For each month of the year, one or more of Sehgal’s works or ‘situations’ will be presented at various locations in the museum. For Sehgal, an artwork consists of a live encounter between artwork and viewer. Sehgal creates ‘situations’ within the museum space, in which interpreters enact choreographed actions and occasionally converse with visitors. The exhibition will include the situations This is propaganda (2002), Kiss (2002) and This occupation (2005). Ammodo provides support to A year at the Stedelijk: Tino Sehgal in order to make this unique retrospective possible.

The exhibition Seurat. Master of Pointillism presents the work of the French artist Georges Pierre Seurat (1859-1891). The exhibition includes 23 of his paintings and 24 of his drawings presented in the context of French symbolism. It includes key works such as Le Cirque en Le Chahut and, with more than 40 pieces on loan, is the first major retrospective of the French artist in the Netherlands. Ammodo supports Seurat. Master of Pointillism to contribute to the realisation of this unique exhibition.

Together with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Rijksmuseum organises the exhibition Hercules Segers Wonderland. The Rijksmuseum has the largest collection of Segers work in the world. The exhibition includes these works alongside (inter)national loans from London, Dresden, Paris and Berlin, amongst others to provide an overview of Seger’s work which is as complete as possible. Hercules Segers (1589/90 – 1633/38) was a celebrated printmaker, painter of landscapes, artist and artdealer. Ammodo supports Hercules Segers Wonderland to contribute to the creation of this exclusive retrospective.

In the exhibition Close-Up, EYE Film Museum presents recent film and video works and installations by a new generation of artists working in the Netherlands. The medium of film has undergone a major development in recent years: the relatively young generation explores the boundaries between film, video and visual arts and is no longer tied to a single medium. The exhibition includes work by Melanie Bonajo (1978), Felix Burger (1982), Janis Rafa (1984) and David Verbeek (1980). Ammodo supports Close-Up to contribute to the development of contemporary artists by offering them the opportunity to demonstrate recent work within a museum context where the work can be displayed under optimal conditions at a high technical level.

In the exhibition Late Rembrandt over 100 works produced in the last phase of Rembrandt’s life are brought together for the first time and displayed in the Philips Hall of the Rijksmuseum. The exhibition of paintings, etchings and drawings follows the life and work of Rembrandt from about 1652 until his death in 1669. It has been put together from museum and private collections throughout Europe and the United States. Highlights of the exhibition include Self-portrait with two circles (Kenwood House, London), Portrait of Jan Six (Six Collection, Amsterdam) and Jacob’s Blessing (Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Kassel). In Paradocs IDFA shows experimental and artistic documentaries. In order to respond to the increase of interdisciplinary practice of visual arts and film, IDFA wants to expand and strengthen the Paradocs video art programme over the coming years. IDFA will do so partly by programming a series in collaboration with Amsterdam Art and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. This programme will present new work by Sander Breure & Witte van Hulzen, Barbara Visser, Nicolas Provost and Mark Cousins, amongst others. Ammodo supports Paradocs because through this programme IDFA is offering an alternative, high-quality platform for showcasing video art.

Tulkus 1880 to 2018 is Paola Pivi’s ambitious attempt to create a complete overview of portraits of all tulkus, the reincarnations of Buddhist masters recognized by Tibetan Buddhism. In total, Pivi has collected more than 1,100 portraits, ranging in size from small to monumental prints. The portrayed tulkus are a representation of Tibetan Buddhism and the Bon-religion and their portraits are usually seen in schools and monasteries and honoured in people’s homes. Ammodo supports Tulkus 1880 to 2018 in order to contribute to the construction of this unique cultural and historical project and the development of the artist Paola Pivi.

For over twenty years De Appel, through its Curatorial Programme, has offered six future curators from different continents the opportunity to learn the skills that are necessary to becoming a curator. For eight months the participants attend workshops and seminars with tutors and guest lecturers, research case studies, take business trips and meet art professionals. De Appel wants the programme to be closely linked to current events. Therefore, starting in 2013, a project was launched to revise and develop the Curatorial Programme during the following years. Ammodo supports this revision of the Curatorial Programme because the programme contributes to the development of young curators at an international level.

The exhibition The Frick Collection. Treasures from New York is the first major exhibition to be held in the recently renovated Mauritshuis after its reopening in 2014. The exhibition consists of 36 masterpieces including paintings, drawings, sculptures and applied art from the 13th to 19th century, on loan from the Frick Collection in New York. The Frick Collection is the art collection of wealthy American steel magnate Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919). It is the first time that so many works from the collection have been lent for exhibition outside of America. Ammodo supports The Frick Collection. Treasures from New York to contribute to the realization of this unique exhibition.

The series of drawings by the British artist Paul Noble (1963) entitled Nobson Newtown is presented in its entirety for the first time in the exhibition NOBSON. Paul is the creator and designer of Nobson Newtown, a fantasy city partly inspired by Whitley Bay, the coastal town where Noble grew up. The artist began work on this fictional town in 1996 and has since produced 23 monumental and highly detailed pencil drawings that reveal the history, geography and mythology of the town. Ammodo supports NOBSON to contribute to the development of Paul Noble and to bring his work to the attention of a wider audience.
