With the exhibition Scenes, the work of Avery Singer (New York, 1987) is made visible for the first time in the Netherlands. Singer is known for her technical complicated monochrome paintings, where iconographic traditions are put together. She also uses other digital tools that give her work a sense of threedimensionality. In this way Singer designs complex and spacial compositions with abstract figures and objects. In the IMC Gallery on the first floor, Singer will exhibit the vast installation that was enthusiastically received during her Statements presentation at Art Basel in 2015.
Scenes appears in the context of the exhibitionseries Stedelijk Contemporary, in which a new generation artists are offered an opportunity to show new work.
